Kenny and I have lived in Raleigh for 2.5 months now and we really like it. It seems the weather is about 30 degrees warmer than it is in IL on any given day so that is enough said really. I realize now that living in a super cold environment is not really for me. I would must rather be warm.. must be the Texan in me. I can't wait to start wearing tank tops and flip flops... we even bought a table for our patio so we can sit outside in the summer time and cook out, play cards, watch the neighbors driving by etc.
Kenny is liking his job.. it is a little stressful for him right now though because he has to use Maya to create art instead of 3d Studio Max which he really prefers. VH has let go 3 guys in one week for not performing up to par so of course that gets everyone riled up but Kenny is doing great as far as we know so there shouldn't be any worries. (he rocks and if they have not noticed it yet, they will)
We still have not made any friends.. we have gone out with some of the guys from VH a few times but mostly to Irish pubs and the guys are between the ages of 20-25 and most w/out girlfriends... so sad. We really miss going to dinner with Martin & Eileen and all the good times spent with our other friends throughout the states... It seems that people our age are married but also have kids so we are kinda in a misfit situation.... I guess we will just see what develops and in the meantime we continue to have fun with each other.
I am still working for Wolfram Research from home.. my contract was suppose to end March 31st but it has been extended through April. There are some pros and cons to working from home:
Pros=
*Role out of bed in just enough time to take dogs out, use bathroom, make green tea before "arriving" at work.
*Saving $ on gas and food as I eat home everyday and sometimes even cook a meal instead of just microwaving something.
*Taking walks with the dogs in the middle of the day.. whenever I want
*Cleaning the house on my lunch break
*Playing music as loud as I want
*Showering at noon
*No traffic
Cons=
*Not getting "dressed up" meaning I mainly wear PJ's until the afternoon and rarely put on makeup or even look in a mirror
*Not making eye contact w/people.. speaker phone conference calls suck.
*Not getting to talk to people or meet new people just by walking the halls or going to track someone down for something needed.
*Listening the dogs bark all day when a truck drives by or the lawn maintenance guys come by.
I will be looking for another job over the next couple of months including this one... it is harder than I thought it would be here though.. so wish me luck.
Now... on to news about Disco.. I have been waiting to post something because I was not sure what to say. Disco was such a fantastic dog.... Kenny and I adopted her from "Doggy Disco" shortly after we became engaged... she was always shy and not really a "lover" but she was sincere and loyal and listened very well. I really did love Disco and some days I miss her soooo much. The thing is.. we had to put her to sleep on Kenny's 1st day of work.... she just went downhill super fast and I know it was because she never recovered from eating that stupid mouse full of rat poison. Bless her heart.. she was having so many problems that Kenny and I just could not stand it anymore for her... she was hurting and we could see it. It is crazy how much pets add to your life and how attached you become and how much you adore them.. but oh man it hurts to say goodbye. We will always love Disco "Big D" and Dolby will too. Dolby became very depressed after her passing and I was really getting worried about him... he was not eating and pretty much just layed around staring at the wall or whatever all day... not even sleeping. So after a few weeks passed we decided to adopt a new doggie girl.. which I will introduce at a later time.. right now is about Disco and her memory. She is a great dog and was loved dearly by us and many of our friends.... and she was well traveled.. she lived in Tx, Ca, IL and NC and has even been to the Grand Canyon and Red Rock Dessert in Arizona. I really do miss her....
And after that sad note.. I am not sure where to go from here.... I can say that things are really going well and Kenny and I will be doing alot this summer and I will check in more and post more very soon. Oh and our 5 year wedding anniversary is in less than 2 weeks... so crazy.. time has flown by.Much Love...
Amy

Disco we love you!!!
We miss you Disco, you were a sweet girl.
I'm so sorry. Just having to go through surgery with Belle has been trying enough. Disco is surely in doggy heaven!
